What Is Clairvoyance: 8 Sure Fire Signs You Have It
Clairvoyance is one of the most well-known psychic abilities. But in particular, it has to do with your sense of sight. Clairvoyance means “clear-seeing”.
While there are many ‘clair’ abilities, this one is all about your vision and the energy your eyes interpret that comes through your third eye. Everything is energy so when someone is clairvoyant, they are tapping into a frequency that can perceive energy beyond what their two physical eyes see. They are using their third eye to perceive this energy.
What Is Clairvoyance?
Clairvoyance means “clear seeing” and is one of the ‘clair’ abilities. This ability is connected to your third eye chakra which is in the middle of your forehead, between your two eyes.
When you are clairvoyant, you are receiving energy and seeing it with your psychic senses and in particular through your third eye.
Your third eye receives the information and then you process it through your mind’s eye and your 2 physical eyes. Your eyes are only interpreting it, while your third eye is the one receiving it. How you interpret it is unique to you. You may see it with your eyes open or your eyes closed.
Everyone Is Born Clairvoyant
Everyone is born clairvoyant, but most people shut it down at an early age. It is taught that it isn’t real to so many children, that they eventually take on that belief and close down this ability. However, some children don’t close off this ability and have it their entire lives.
They may do this for a variety of reasons such as it is too scary and confusing at that age, they want to fit into their peer groups and don’t want to be different, or someone around them encouraged them to close it down. Many people will then choose to open it at a later age.
Other people have this ability but it isn’t as strong when they are born. They may choose to open it themselves or it may open itself when they go through a spiritual awakening or release a bunch of trauma. It’s always a choice, if you don’t consciously choose it, your higher self chooses to open it for you.
The good news is that everyone has the power to uncover this ability again and develop their clairvoyance with practice. You may already be using your clairvoyance and not even realize it as it can be very subtle.
How Do You know If You Have Clairvoyance?
1. You See Things from Different Dimensions
You have clairvoyance if you see beyond the 3rd dimension. You can tap into energy from different dimensions such as the 5th dimension or higher.
However, the way you perceive this energy may look unique to you. You may see a spirit that appears as an orb of light. Or you may see sparkles or flashes of light. Or you may see a full-size being in front of you that is from a different dimension. How you see it is unique to you.
2. You See Things in Your Imagination
Clairvoyance isn’t just seeing things with your eyes open; it is also seeing things with your eyes closed. You may have visions when you close your eyes that are just as valid and real as when they are open. You may see your spirit guides with your eyes closed, angels, energy (such as aura colors), deceased loved ones, or even visions.
A lady I once went to saw visions like it was playing out on a movie screen. It was as if she was watching a movie and receiving her information that way. She could see my past lives play out as if she was at a theater watching them on a screen. It was pretty cool!

3. You Have Very Vivid Dreams
Clairvoyance is having very vivid dreams. When you can remember the many details of your dreams, you are using your third eye to receive that information. If you can remember colors and symbols and people and all the things that went on, then you have a level of clairvoyance.
If you don’t remember your dreams, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t clairvoyant. You may have many other clairvoyant abilities just not vivid dreams right now. I wanted to point this out because you can go through certain phases of life where you dream a lot and then not so much. If your sleep is interrupted a lot during the night, it may be harder to remember your dreams. Lifestyle can play a big factor in how much you dream.
4. You See Auras And/Or Chakras
Some clairvoyant people can see auras either in their heads or right in front of them. While some clairvoyants see auras with their two eyes open, other ones see the colors in their heads with their eyes closed. Both ways are valid.
An aura is essentially the energy that someone or something gives off around their body. This extends past their physical body and surrounds them. How big someone’s aura is depends on many factors and can shift and change throughout the day. Everyone’s aura will be a different color and shape. Your aura shifts often and does not stay the same depending on many factors.
For example, someone who is quite busy and hustling all the time might have quite a bit of red in their aura while someone who is doing a lot of meditating and spiritual work will have a lot of purple. This color shifts all the time and can be seen on people, animals, insects, and anything really. So, if you are seeing a color coming off of something, you are clairvoyant.
5. You Are Clairvoyant if You Remember Details About Things
Most people that are clairvoyant would make great eyewitnesses. If you have it, you see details that other people may miss. You tune into the colors and the details of things in your environment, and you remember them. Your eyes can’t help but to focus on more than just the big picture of things.
6. You See What Is Wrong in Someone’s Body (Medical Intuitive)
Some clairvoyant individuals are what are considered “medical intuitives” and can see on an energetic level what is going on in someone’s body. They can scan the body and pick up where something is out of alignment. Some may even be able to see the chakras and receive medical information that way.
7. Clairvoyance Comes Through in How You Speak
Another way to know if you have clairvoyance is by how you speak. If you use “see” when you speak and say things such as, “I see what you are saying” or “I see what you mean” then you have clairvoyance.
You use the word “see” to describe things in your reality. Notice how you describe things and if you use the word “see” when you speak.
8. You Like to Daydream and Use Your Imagination
Your imagination is the gateway to your clairvoyance abilities. When you are imagining and daydreaming, you are strengthening your clairvoyance. It is really beneficial to do this. It also helps with manifesting.
This is why kids can see clairvoyantly more easily, they live in their imagination much of the time.
9. You See Things in Your Peripheral Vision That Disappears When You Focus
If you’ve ever had an experience where you saw something in the corner of your eye and once you turned to look at it and your brain had a chance to analyze it, it disappeared.
This is your clairvoyant ability seeing things through your peripheral vision. Often when you change your gaze, it will disappear. Or your brain may come in with its logic and talk you out of the experience you just had.
I had this experience a few times where I thought I saw a spirit and then second-guessed it. I thought it was my imagination. Later, without me even asking, a psychic told me about this lady in my house, the exact lady I saw! It was confirmed that I did actually see her. This often happens when you are just starting out to develop your clairvoyance and aren’t confident in your abilities yet.
10. You Notice Visual Things with Details
If you are clairvoyant, you notice visual things and you take in the details of the things around you with your eyes. You may notice things that seem to pass other people by such as a rainbow in the sky or an animal in the ditch. You may pick up on the details of buildings and the small things that make it unique.
Note: You don’t have to have all the above to be clairvoyant. You might have one or two of them and still have a really strong clairvoyance ability.
How to Strengthen Your Clairvoyance
• Journal About Your Clairvoyant Experiences
You can strengthen your clairvoyance by first of all noticing when it happens and then keeping a journal of your experiences. This is really important for understanding the messages you are receiving.
Be sure to record when you see things in your imagination or with your eyes open, what you see, and also what you were doing while you saw something. Then check your journal regularly for patterns.
For example, you may notice that you always receive clairvoyant information when you are cleaning. You may be more open then as your mind isn’t overthinking and therefore picking up on it more easily then. Pay attention to all the patterns you notice as that will help you move forward.
• Keep a Dream Journal
It’s a great idea to keep a dream journal that you can refer back to as a way of strengthening your clairvoyance. It also helps to strengthen it by writing it down because it prompts you to remember what happened which is activating your third eye.
• Strengthen and Clear Your Third Eye Chakra
The next thing you can do to strengthen your psychic ability of clairvoyance is to work on your third eye chakra. Take time every day to clear and balance this chakra every day.
You can imagine energy going into the chakra between your eyes. Imagine it is open and clear and ready to receive clairvoyant information.
When strengthening a chakra, adding that color into your life will help to balance it. So, to strengthen and balance your third eye, wear the color indigo, look at an indigo picture, or eat indigo-colored foods.
• Look Carefully at the Details of Things
By looking carefully at details of things in your environment, it will help to strengthen your third eye and clairvoyance ability.
Grab a picture with lots of details and notice all the details. Then close your eyes and try to recall the details. Open your eyes and look again and keep doing this over and over.
Just like a muscle, you will strengthen your clairvoyance, especially when you try to remember the details in your head with your eyes closed.
• Practice Using Your Peripheral Vision
When you first start seeing things with your clairvoyant vision, you will usually catch them out of your peripheral vision. It may look like a flash of something. Or you may see someone and then all of a sudden, they are gone. You will likely question if you saw something or if it was your imagination.
This happened to me a few times and later it was confirmed that what I saw was indeed there. So, trust what you see!
Practice using your peripheral vision more often and tuning your gaze to the corner of your eye instead of just in front of you.
Those 3D pictures that you have to stand close to and then back up to see the picture are great exercises. They help to tune your gaze and adjust your eyes to see the 3D picture which is something that you can’t see just by looking at it normally.
• Practice Looking at Auras
Seeing auras is a clairvoyance ability that anyone can do with practice. If you want to grow your clairvoyance, you can practice looking at the aura of people, animals, or things.
Have someone stand in front of a white background (it’s easiest when just starting out) and gaze a few inches above their head. Notice what you see. Then move to their hands and gaze a few inches outside of their hands and notice what you see.
There is a certain way that you use your eyes when seeing auras, similar to using your peripheral vision. Once you start to see some energy, keep that focus and try not to move your gaze. The aura will get bigger and go out further from their body. Once you can see auras, you will notice that everyone’s auras are a different color.
• Use Your Imagination & Create Scenes in Your Head
Your imagination is where your clairvoyance ability stems from. When you activate your imagination, it also activates your third eye and your clairvoyance abilities.
Practice using this part of you to strengthen your clairvoyance abilities. The more you use your imagination, the stronger your third eye will be. It is just like a muscle that likes to be worked.
• Candle Gazing
Candle gazing is an exercise where you stare at a candle flame for as long as you can and then close your eyes (or you can try open) and notice what you see. You may begin to see pictures, shapes, or colors. This helps to train your clairvoyance.
Final Thoughts – What Is Clairvoyance “Clear Seeing” Psychic Ability?
The meaning of clairvoyance is “clear-seeing” and can mean many things. It is tuning into and picking up on a different frequency that your 2 physical eyes perceive. You are using your third eye to see things.
One person may see their spirit guides standing in front of them while another may see auras inside their mind.
Your clairvoyance ability will grow over time, especially if you practice using the techniques in this article.
I highly recommend keeping a journal of all your clairvoyant experiences as something to look back on to understand the patterns connected to this ability because the things you see may not make sense at first.
