Are you someone who has to force yourself to get up early to an annoying alarm clock without actually feeling rested? Do you want to wake up energized but are not sure how to make that happen? It can be difficult to get out of bed when it is so comfortable and you just don’t feel motivated to take on the day.
There has to be a better way! Say goodbye to your snooze button. With these 8 tips, you’ll be so energized that you’ll be jumping out of bed in the morning and ready to take on the day!
Wake Up Energized – 8 Effective Tips
#1 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Open the Curtains (Before You Go to Bed)
Having the sun naturally wake you up is much better than waking up to a beeping alarm clock! However, I understand that it isn’t always possible depending on the time of year. But when you can, take advantage of the naturally sunny days when it rises early.
Summer is perfect to wake up to the sun as it rises so early. Open your blinds or curtains a bit before you go to bed and allow the early sunrise to wake you up when you can.
This may be a bit more difficult in the winter when the days are shorter, and the sun rises later. It depends on what time you get up and the season, but it will work great during longer days.
#2 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Put an Upbeat Song on Your Alarm Clock
Instead of using a loud beeping noise that can be quite unsettling to a sleeping person, try switching it to a song you like. Or perhaps a gentler tone that wakes you up more naturally.
I have a harp sound on my alarm clock that I really enjoy. It gently wakes me up and doesn’t put me into a state of panic when it goes off.
If you have a favorite song that you know makes you feel good, use that as your alarm clock. How you wake up determines your whole day, so you might as well wake up and set your tone immediately for the rest of the day to have your most productive and energized day.
#3 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Switch Your Alarm Clock Song Often
Every couple of weeks, switch up your alarm music. This will have an impact on your day and your brain. When you do new things, it creates new neural pathways in your brain and allows for more new things to happen.
So, if you are feeling that you are very much in a boring routine, switching up how you start your day is the perfect way to change it up. It sounds so simple, yet it is very effective.
You can apply this to any area of your life that feels stagnant. Take a different route to work, grab your afternoon coffee from a different place than your usual, or instead of going straight home after work, try something new.
#4 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Try a New Morning Ritual
Starting your day off with a morning ritual is a great way to begin your day on the right foot. A morning ritual sets your tone for the entire day. It also helps you to feel more in control of your day and your life.
When you start your day the way you want (instead of how your boss wants, your spouse, or your kids want) it gives you your power back. A morning ritual is a perfect way to start every day.
My recommended morning ritual program is Morning Ritual Mastery. I have been using this program for quite some time now and highly recommend it. You can also see my review HERE.
#5 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Wake Up with a Smile
This is simple, yet super powerful. By smiling upon waking, you are once again setting the tone for your day. You are saying “I am going to have a good day.” Your brain will think you are happy because you are smiling, and you will begin to attract more happy experiences and be much more content
I can’t stress enough how important smiling is. Even if you don’t feel like smiling, the act of smiling is doing something in your brain that is ultimately for your benefit.
#6 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Do a Yoga/Exercise Ritual in the Morning
Moving your body in the morning is one of the fastest ways to get energized. You don’t have to go to an entire workout class or the gym, it can be as simple as taking 5 minutes to stretch. Or doing 5 minutes of exercise such as jumping jacks, sit-ups, or squats. Perhaps you do a quick yoga routine.
Whatever your choice of morning exercise is, it will help you to feel more energized. You will get your blood moving, wake up all your muscles and bring oxygen into your lungs. All these things help you to get energized. It is also great to do a quick 5 minutes of exercise throughout the day when you feel tired to wake you back up.
#7 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Use Scent to Wake You Up
Scents affect us and different ones work for different people. Try to find a scent that you feel makes you feel awake and energized.
Set your coffee maker on an automated timer or use an oil diffuser with an energizing scent to help you to feel more energized.
You can buy a diffuser with a timer on it, or simply have it by your bed and upon first waking, turn it on to begin to get the scent drifting throughout your room.
Or maybe you have a candle that energizes you? Light that upon first waking.
Use whatever scent makes you feel good and energized and get it going first thing in the morning.
#8 Tip to Wake Up Energized – Rehydrate
Your body goes for hours without water at night, so it is important to rehydrate upon first waking.
Grab a full glass of water first thing in the morning to rehydrate and feel more energized. Your body will be happy and it will also alert it that it is time to wake up.
Bottom Line: How to Wake Up Energized
Make sure to take immediate action on the tips above. If you do that, it’ll dramatically shift your mornings and your life! These tips are simple, yet effective for getting you on the right track in the morning to wake up energized.
How you wake up each day sets the tone for the entire day. By setting the tone the way you want it, you can create your day the way you want to and have an energized and productive day.
