You’ve probably heard the term ‘vibrational alignment’ before by someone who practices the law of attraction and spirituality.
So, what does being out of vibrational alignment even mean? It refers to not being your best self. Something is off in your energy that is causing you to not be at 100%. It can be something small or big.
This vibrational misalignment can start small and grow much bigger, which is why it is important to catch it early and shift your energy before the momentum carries it too far.
Why Is It Important to Be in Vibrational Alignment?
It is important to be in vibrational alignment because how you feel affects everything around you. It affects your energy, how you treat others, how others treat you, what happens in your experience (via the law of attraction), and how you deal with challenges and everyday things.
Bottom Line: It doesn’t feel good to not feel good.
Everyone wants to feel good and feel like they are in alignment, but it can be difficult to know at times when you are out of alignment. It takes conscious awareness and mindfulness to notice when something is off in your energy.
This list will help you to see when you may be out of vibrational alignment and need some balancing.
10 Signs You Are Out of Vibrational Alignment & How to Fix It
#1 Sign – Aches & Pains
Your physical body will alert you when you are out of alignment. Your body and mind are connected and if one is out then the other one will be out also.
So, if your physical body has pain it is letting you know that something is out of alignment in your energy.
Your body is like a guide, letting you know that something needs your attention. It is actually a really good thing because it helps you to get back into alignment. It isn’t there just to give you pain.
Next time you get pain, ask what it is trying to show you? Maybe your chakras are out of balance? Or maybe you are thinking something that isn’t beneficial to you.
Look at where the pain is. For example, if it is in your knee, are you being inflexible in some are of life? If it is in your lower back, where do you feel like you aren’t being supported?

#2 Sign – Consuming More Alcohol
The reason why you drink alcohol is to get a certain feeling. Maybe that feeling is a relaxed feeling, a happy feeling, or an empowered feeling.
When you’ve had a few drinks, you are probably more sociable and temporarily feel more confident.
But if you are waking up in the morning and can’t wait to get home from work to have a drink then it really is more of a band-aid to cover up the pain so you don’t have to deal with it.
Know that this is ok! It is normal and ok. We all do it and I’m sharing this perspective from my experience and what I’ve done to deal with my pain.
But you eventually get to a point where it isn’t enough to temporarily feel better; you want to feel better all the time.
The key here is awareness. Once you are aware of how you are using alcohol, then you can look at your emotions and see if you may be out of alignment.
Often, we aren’t aware of why we are doing certain behaviors, so once you bring them to the light, you can really work on healing them from the inside out.

#3 Sign – Eating More or Eating Less
If you notice yourself eating more and craving unhealthy foods, then you may be out of alignment. When you are in alignment, you naturally crave healthy, high vibrational foods. Since you are in that vibration, that is what your body is craving. It is easy to eat healthy when you are aligned.
So, if you notice yourself wanting to eat more and especially foods that aren’t the best for you, tune into how you feel. Really check in with your emotions and connect the pieces of your eating patterns to your emotions.
The same may hold true if you aren’t eating anything. If you’ve really lowered your food intake look at how you feel. Often, anxiety and depression can bring up feelings of undereating and not wanting to eat.
It is difficult to put food in your body when you are healing from a traumatic event. Your solar plexus is off and the last thing you want is food. You may be filled with cortisol and trying to process your emotions which leaves no room to process and digest food.
#4 Sign – Sleeping Patterns
If you notice that you are sleeping more or less than normal, then you may be out of alignment.
Sleeping less can indicate that you have a lot of anxious energy and your thoughts may be keeping you up at night.
On the other end, sleeping a lot more is more of a depressive behavior. Your energy may be super low, or you just don’t want to deal with life, so you sleep to get through the day.
Also, if you are going through a dark night of the soul period, you may be sleeping more as well.
Our bodies and minds heal as we sleep, so sometimes sleeping a lot more is a time of healing. You may be healing from a trauma or pain from this lifetime (or even another lifetime).
#5 Sign – How People Act Around You
Via the law of attraction, you create your reality. If your energy is off, then people may not be as cooperative around you. This isn’t a blame game whatsoever. It is powerful to know that you have the power to change whatever isn’t working.
Personally, I’ve found that when I’m out of alignment, people don’t act as friendly or they cut me off in traffic, etc. It is just another sign to alert you that something may be off so that you can change it.
One way to know what needs to be looked at is to ask yourself, “how are people making me feel?” Then, you can look at where internally you feel that way and heal it from the inside out.
For example, if you are getting rejected a lot, ask yourself how you may be rejecting yourself. Do you feel that you don’t deserve love? Do you feel not good enough?
#6 Sign – Your Outside Experiences
This is very similar to the one above, via the law of attraction you create your experiences. So, if your outside experiences seem to be off then there may be something that needs to be balanced and re-aligned within you.
One way to know what needs to be looked at is to ask yourself, “how does this outside experience make me feel?” Then, you can look at where internally you feel that way and heal it from the inside out.
For example, if your outside environment feels like chaos, where internally do you feel chaos? Is there something you can do internally to bring yourself into balance and heal your inner emotions?
Meditation is one way that is great for bringing yourself back into balance.
#7 Sign – Your Energy (Tired or Wired)
If you are feeling very tired or drained, then that is an indication that something may be off. You may find yourself all of a sudden sleeping more (or wanting to sleep more), feeling groggy, and dragging yourself through the day.
If you are always wired and can’t focus, it may be an indication of having some anxiety.
There’s a difference between being passionate and being anxious. When you are passionate, it is an exciting feeling and you have lots of energy. This energy feels good and right (although may have a touch of uncomfortableness just because you are so excited.) You may feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.
But, if you are anxious, you have a lot of energy, but it is an uncomfortable feeling and may even leave you feeling sick to your stomach. It doesn’t feel good; it feels as though something needs your attention.
If you are feeling anxious, one great thing you can do is to ground yourself. If you aren’t grounded that it is easier to get those anxious feelings. You can easily do this by walking barefoot outside and imaging roots connecting you to the earth.
#8 Sign – Your Language
If you find yourself swearing a lot more than usual, putting yourself down, putting others down, or complaining a lot then your energy may be off.
Those types of words carry a lower vibration and if your energy is off, you may find yourself using those words more.
If you notice yourself putting yourself or others down or complaining, it’s a good idea to check in with your energy and what is going on with it.

#9 Sign – Breathing Patterns
If you find your breathing really heavy or shallow, then you may be out of alignment.
When you have anxiety, your breathing may become more rapid and shallow.
Anxiety triggers your flight or fight response and therefore your breathing becomes faster. This is a sign that your energy is off and needs to be looked at.
Start by taking some powerful, deep breaths into your solar plexus. Do this every time you notice you have rapid or shallow breathing.
#10 Sign – Unmotivated or Obsessed
If you find yourself completely unmotivated you may be out of alignment.
Lack of motivation goes hand in hand with depression and if you can catch it early and shift your energy, it will change the momentum of where your energy is going.
If you find yourself completely obsessed with something, then you may be out of alignment. There’s a fine line between obsessed and passionate. So, if you are passionate, that is one thing, but obsession can be something totally different.
Obsession can cause you to neglect other parts of your life that are important and can take a toll on your health. Obsession is tunnel vision with no room to breathe. This can really throw you off balance because we need a balance in all areas of our lives to really thrive.
If you do catch yourself unmotivated or obsessed, see if there is an area of your life that you can add more balance to. For example, maybe take a break and do something fun or do something to change up your energy if you are feeling depressed.
How to Get Back into Vibrational Alignment
The easiest way to get back into alignment is to become aware of your emotions and behaviors.
If you are overeating, ask yourself, “why?” How do you feel right before you eat, how do you feel during and how do you feel after?
It’s a great idea to journal how you feel when you notice that you are out of alignment. Notice if you can see a pattern.
What are you thinking every time your breathing becomes really shallow? Journal it and find the connection so that you can begin to heal the root cause of it.
Ask yourself the hard questions. Why do you think you are sleeping so much? Is it because you don’t want to deal with something in your waking life? Are you healing from a traumatic event? Sleeping is very healing so you will sleep more when you are healing on a physical and emotional level.

I know from personal experience that digging into the root cause and taking off the bandage is how you heal; it is where your power lies. It may be uncomfortable at first to look at things that hurt and to dive into some shadow work. But by taking the actions to align your energy, you really can transform your life.
Your behaviors, actions, and emotions will let you know when you are out of alignment. Most of the time you go about your day, not noticing when you are out of alignment. You are busy and don’t always stop and take the time to think about it.
It is about being mindful of these things because your energy affects your whole experience. By being mindful, noticing when you are out of vibrational alignment, and then using the techniques to get yourself back into alignment, you will be able to keep yourself in a high vibration, which is where all your power lies.
