  1. Hi,
I’m not that familiar w/ chackra, but do you think massage therapy can heal.
My back is in so much pain. My chiropractor said it’s DDD. Degenerative disc disease. It’s wear & tear on the body,is my belief. Life on life’s terms..any suggestions are helpful….thank you.

    1. Hi Anne, yes I do think massage is great for helping with the root chakra. It will help to open the meridians and allow to energy to start flowing again . Other great things are acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopath, reiki or chiropractor. Any of them will be of benefit.

For things you can do yourself, I suggest grounding yourself everyday. Basically imagining roots growing from your spine and connecting your to the earth. Also, it sounds like stuck energy. So, imagine that flowing red energy going through that chakra. The root chakra is all about support. Is there any areas where you don’t feel supported? If so, is their a way you can give that support to yourself in those areas. Yoga is also great for helping with pain and opening your chakras.

I hope that helps and you get some relief from your back pain.

  2. My root chakra has been closed for 3 years. Literally I’ve known for 3 years. It’s always around 50% underactive. I moved to North Carolina from Maine 3 years ago my mom tricked me into moving here I thought I was only coming for summer vacation and she didn’t tell me till three days before school started that I was staying here permanently. it really messed me up and even though I’m over it now 3 years later I have never felt at home here and I have had severe homesickness and depression because I miss Maine so much. I used to look up Google images of my hometown in Maine and cry and feel so lost and upset. I would hold on to all of my belongings that I got from main and couldn’t let them go. even though it’s gotten better this past year and I’ve accepted it a lot more my root chakra is still very low and I struggle with all of the negative side effects of that. no matter how much I try to strengthen my root chakra or how much I try to feel at home here I just don’t I can’t shake this unsettling feeling that I don’t belong here. I feel like my root chakra won’t get better until I can find a way to feel at home. Like wearing red and doing the hums aren’t enough. But this isn’t my home and when I’m trying to strengthen my root chakra it feels like I’m lying to myself. I’ve always been very connected to nature and love mother Earth but what I see outside my window right now isn’t what I resonate with. Not that North Carolina isn’t beautiful it is but this feels like an extended exotic vacation not like my home which I miss desperately. Any advice?

    1. I’m sorry to hear that where you are living now isn’t resonating with you. It’s not a great feeling to feel like you aren’t where you are supposed to be. It seems as though you heart is elsewhere and yes that can make it difficult to feel grounded and connected to where you are. Can I ask, are you able to move back to Maine? I’m not sure of your age or circumstances but is there some way for you to make it back there? If your intuition is pulling you a certain way, I’d explore those options. All the little tips and tricks are great for helping with your chakras, but sometimes it can take a big move in order to heal the things that are out of alignment. Have you spoke to your mom about how you feel?

  3. I did not have any idea what chakra was until a few days ago. A massage therapist told me my red chakra was open. She told me to google it. It seems that it’s not always a good thing to be open especially when I am an extremely depressed and anxiety ridden person that feels constant physical and emotional pain. Sure sounds like I have an hyper active root chakra. I will try some of your techniques in this article to help balance me out.

    1. Hi Nik,
Yes you don’t want your chakras too open or too closed. A balanced root chakra is best. If you are feeling down then an open root chakra (or any chakras for that matter) might make you more susceptible to taking on other people ‘stuff’ more. I used to do this exercise where I basically expanded my aura and it felt great and it seemed to get things going moving positively forward in my life. Then I started a job at this oil field company with tons of negative energy and expanded my aura that morning. I felt so panicked and not like myself at all. I didn’t realize it until later that it was because I was open to other peoples energy. It might be similar in your case where some emotions you are feeling aren’t your own. It is especially helpful to ground yourself and that will center you and keep you from absorbing that which isn’t yours.
