Purging Of Emotions: 5 Insanely Effective Ways To Release Them
Purging of emotions can happen on their own or you can guide them along. It is a great way to get rid of old, stuck emotions stored in your body.
If you feel like you are in a pressure cooker, holding onto uncomfortable emotions and needing to release them, then it’s a great time to purge some stuck emotions.
Purging your emotions isn’t meant to end all your suffering, but to relieve some of the past stuff that you are holding onto.
It helps to move out the heavy, dense energy that is part of your past. This makes room for lighter, fresher energy to come in.
Why Should You Purge Your Emotions?
Over time heavy emotions get stuck in your body if you don’t do something to release them. While this isn’t the case for everyone, most people tend to stuff down uncomfortable emotions.
Kids are really great examples of how to purge emotions. If they are upset, they cry or throw a temper tantrum and then they move on with their life. They essentially release their negative emotions.
However, as adults, we are taught that it’s not appropriate to have a temper tantrum at work (although some people do) and we are very conscious of how we release them. This causes us to hold onto them usually for way too long.
When you stuff emotions down, they are still in you. They won’t come out until you release them. If you get too many then they act like a boiling pot, ready to spill over and they may come out when you don’t want them to.
This is why it’s important to purge these emotions, in a healthy way. I’m sure you’d rather release your emotions by yourself than take it out on your kids or spouse.
Or you’d rather release them around supportive people rather than quitting your job in a rage because your emotions are controlling you, not the other way around.
The high vibrating emotions don’t get stuck in your body such as joy, love, peace, and excitement. It’s the lower ones that stay trapped such as shame, guilt, anxiety, and fear.
These lower emotions can wreak havoc on your body if they aren’t released. You will begin to get physical pain if you hold onto these emotions for too long without releasing them.
These emotions not only hinder your physical body but your mental well-being as well. You won’t be living your best life if you have trapped emotions in your body.
How Do You Know If You Need to Purge Heavy Emotions?
• You Feel Stuck
Feeling stuck signifies that you are holding onto something from the past. It’s very freeing to release past energy and move into a new future.
• You Are Constantly Moody
If you are finding yourself constantly hanging in lower emotions and the littlest thing sets you off, it is because you have an overload of negative emotions in your body that want to come out and be released.
• You’ve Lost Your Zest for Life
If you feel unmotivated and possibly even depressed that is a sign that you have heavy emotions weighing you down. Depression is most often feeling regret from the past or losing hope for the future you want.
So, releasing those past emotions will help you to get your spark for life back and become excited about the future once again.
• You Are More Anxious & On Edge
Anxiety is a fear of the future. If you are feeling fear, it is likely because you have something in you that needs to be released.
This fear can stem from the past, but it is affecting your present and therefore what you create in your future.
Purging of Emotions: 5 Insanely Effective Ways to Release Them
1. Breathwork
Breathwork helps with the purging of emotions, because it stirs up the old energy, gets it moving, and then you breathe it out. So, you are physically doing something to release this old, heavy energy.
When you do breathwork, you bypass your thoughts and go straight to releasing energy. You use your breath to release emotions which helps to get your mind out of the equation.
Your mind might be afraid to let them go so doing something physical such as breathwork can help to release the barrier of your thoughts getting in the way.
You can think of it in a way similar to exercising where you aren’t thinking too much, just exerting energy and getting rid of what doesn’t serve you.
You can do this on your own, use guided breathwork videos, or even take a breathwork class or do a breathwork ceremony.

2. Allow the Uncomfortable Without Resisting It
Fighting your emotions, judging them as wrong, or saying they shouldn’t be there will only make them feel more uncomfortable and stick around longer.
Take some time to feel these uncomfortable emotions without judgment and then release them.
How you release them is up to you. You may cry, scream, run, or breathe them out. The important thing is that you aren’t resisting them because that just creates more tension in your body.
3. Epsom Salt Baths
Epsom salt is great for pulling toxins and negativity out of your body. The magnesium in Epsom salts helps to relax your muscles while the sulfate pulls out toxins.
Your body holds a lot of stuff and physically detoxing it can help with purging of emotions.
For a few days in a row, have some relaxing Epsom salt baths as an added way to purge toxic energy.
4. Sage
When you are purging your emotions, these emotions can stay in your space. Burning sage helps to cleanse your environment as well as you.
Sage helps to get rid of anything negative such as past thoughts, past energy of people who occupied a space, negative people you are around, and entities that may be hanging around people or places.
You can sage yourself, your house, your vehicle, your pets, or anything that you want to clear. As I mentioned this is also really helpful to do after you’ve just purged heavy emotions or someone else has in your environment.
5. Scream at the Top of Your Lungs
Screaming is a physical way to purge your heavy emotions. Maybe you want a more extreme release than breathwork, try screaming at the top of your lungs.
I recommend doing this alone in your car, into your pillow, or someplace where no one will hear you. You don’t want your neighbors panicking when they hear a scream from your house.
Why Now Is the Best Time to Purge Heavy Emotions
We are going through an ascension process on earth right now and moving from a 3D consciousness to a 5D consciousness. Therefore, everyone is purging a lot of heavy emotions. Some of these emotions have been with you for years.
In a 5D energy, these emotions don’t exist. So, in order to move into that higher frequency, you have to let go of the lower vibrating emotions.
As more and more light comes onto the planet, you are naturally releasing these emotions even if you aren’t aware of it.
Side Effects of Purging of Emotions
Some side effects can happen when you release stored emotions. These include but are not limited to:
- Crying
- Nausea or throwing up
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Blurred vision
- Pain in your body (this is the energy moving out)
- More intuitive (your psychic senses could open up)
Of course, go to the doctor if you feel something is off. However, if you are purging your emotions and get some side effects, it is normal as the energy leaves your body and your body re-adjusts.
Energy is Constantly in Motion
If you are going through a period of purging of emotions, know that this is temporary, and it will pass. You won’t feel like this forever. The process is uncomfortable, but you will feel better after.
Do your best to go with the flow and try to not resist the process. Energy is constantly in motion and trying to stop it will only prolong it.
Final Thoughts – Purging of Emotions
Purging of emotions is not a comfortable process. Think about having something in your body for years and then all of a sudden deciding to remove it. It will feel like a part of you is missing. However, it is incredibly beneficial, it will move you into a higher frequency, and it will help you to feel better in the long run.
Use these tips any time you feel like you need to release or clear heavy energy. Each time you do them, you will release more and more layers. It is a process so doing these consistently will have the most benefit.
