Overcome Fear – How To Embrace The Unknown
We all have fears about certain things in our lives. Fear stops us from living our best life possible. It stops us from being authentic. Worst of all, it leaves us with regret.
What if the fear didn’t stop you from pursuing your dreams and goals? What if you did it no matter how scary it was?
Well, it might turn into something amazing that you would have never realized if you didn’t take that leap and embrace the fear. You can overcome fear.
What is Fear?
It is an illusion that isn’t real. It is being afraid of something in the future. You may think you are scared in the present moment but it is the unknown of the future that you are afraid of.
For example, if a tiger is chasing you, you may think you are scared of what is happening in the present moment. However, you are scared of a future event and not what is happening right now in the present. You are fearful because you don’t know what the tiger is going to do. You are afraid of something happening in the future.
Most of your fears never ever happen yet they can haunt you day and night. They are often false scenarios you make up from ideas you receive from different sources such as the media. It is up to you to figure out what is real. Not everything you read is the truth.
You Do Not Fear the Past – The Future Is What You Fear
The past cannot be feared since it has already happened. You may not like something from your past and be fearful it will happen again but that once again is being afraid of the future.
Basically, you are fearful of the unknown. There are so many unknown things that can happen and often our egos try to protect us from them. You can have fears about many things but they aren’t real. It is an illusion about something that you don’t know the outcome of.
Overcome Fear – Deep Rooted Fears Keep You Stuck
You might be afraid of going on a first date with someone new because you don’t know how it will go or what they will think of you. Even though you want to date someone so bad, your deep-rooted fears keep you from taking a chance.
You might be afraid of being successful because your life will change once you are and you may lose certain aspects of your life that you are comfortable with. Granted, they will be replaced by better things but the fear doesn’t know that. It doesn’t know the whole picture. It only knows what it makes up in its head, which will probably never even happen anyways.
You might be afraid of losing weight because you will get more attention from the opposite sex and you aren’t used to that. You might not know how to handle it. So, you don’t even bother to try to overcome your fears.
You can be fearful of many different things that don’t even make sense to your rational mind. Why would someone be fearful of being rich? It sounds pretty great! Well because then their life will change significantly. They may lose friends. They may attract more attention to themselves. They may have to completely change the way they live their lives and how others perceive them. This can be quite stressful as it takes someone far out of their comfort zone.
What is the Worst That Can Happen If You Overcome Fear?
Take a look at these fears and ask yourself “what is the worst thing that can happen?” Maybe you get rejected. Well is it that bad? It isn’t the end of the world. It is just one person in this world of 7.5 billion people who reject you. The rejection might sting for a day or two but you will get over it.
Or maybe you lose a bunch of weight and receive more attention from people. Is it so bad? Yes, you will have to set more boundaries but that is something that you are capable of doing.
Overcoming fear causes you to shift how you live your life. That is ok, nothing ever stays exactly the same anyways. You can live in the misery of being trapped in fear or take the steps to overcome fear and learn how to navigate your life in a new way.
Are You Programmed to be Fearful?
You may have picked up fears from others growing up. For example, if your parents are afraid of insects they may program it into your head to fear them and that is how you developed that fear. Maybe when you were little something happened to you that was scary and it stayed with you your whole life. No one showed you how to overcome your fears of that specific event.
Society programs fear into our heads so we will buy their products. A lot of it is just marketing and making money. But it isn’t valid.
If you look on the internet there is basically something bad about everything. Big companies program us to be fearful of so many things and it’s turning the world into a crazy place! It is all about making money for them.
The more fearful we are, the more products we will buy from them and the more money THEY will make. You should not fear life! You should listen to your intuition and not take their word for it.
How to Overcome Fear – Most of Your Fears Won’t Manifest
Your mind can make up a million scenarios about something that could happen but chances are it won’t happen. It is trying to protect you but instead, it just makes you fearful.
I can guarantee you that 99 out of your 100 fears won’t happen. Unless you think about them all the time and actually manifest them into your reality. But that takes a lot of thought and energy. Most of them won’t happen.
If you are afraid of spiders but have never had a bad encounter with one, then why are you so scared? Your fear isn’t relevant. It is something made up in your head.
Most of your fears will never see the light of day and are just draining your energy when you focus on them.
How Can You Overcome Fear?
Overcome fear by inviting it in. It is ok to be scared and uncomfortable. You don’t need to pretend otherwise. You are ok.
Give the fear a place in your life instead of pushing it down and ignoring it. Walking away from the fear is easy but to stand there and allow it in is difficult. Just be ok with it being there.
You are not weak because you are fearful. In fact, you are very strong if you feel the fear and do it anyway. Try channeling positive energy towards it instead of negative energy. Thank it for giving you the opportunity to embrace it and become a stronger person.
Develop a curiosity about your fear. If you are scared of insects, try picking one up and looking at how interesting it is. Go on the internet and find interesting facts out about spiders. By shifting your focus from fear to curiosity it will help you to overcome your anxiety about it.
Embrace your fears. For example, if a dog bit you in the past, you might now be afraid of dogs. But understand that the chances of it happening twice in a lifetime are slim to none. Chances of it happening once are slim but twice are even slimmer. So, go out and pet all the dogs you can. Embrace your fear and it will help you to get over it.
Overcome Fear by Embracing the Unknown Future
Fear is being afraid of the unknown; an unknown future. It is not something that is happening to you, it is only happening in your mind.
Your future will always be unknown and it wouldn’t be very pleasant to be fearful your whole life.
Instead of being scared of the unknown, embrace it. You are strong enough to overcome fear and anything life throws at you.
