How To Surrender When You Feel Stuck In Life
Do you notice that everyone talks about how to surrender all the time especially when it comes to the Law of Attraction? You understand the concept but how on earth do you surrender to something you want so bad?
How do you let go and trust in the powers of the Universe to take care of your problems for you? It isn’t an easy thing to do but it is possible.
1. Surrender Happens in Stages
Surrendering more often than not happens piece by piece, not all at once. So, don’t beat yourself up if you think you’ve surrendered everything and then more stuff comes up that you need to release. It is all part of the process and you aren’t doing anything wrong.
It doesn’t often happen that you can completely let go of what you want and surrender it to the Universe all at once. Maybe at first, you surrender a tiny bit, and then an hour later more stuff comes up that you need to surrender. Two days later more stuff comes up to be released. It is perfectly normal for this to happen. The most important thing is to not be hard on yourself if it is taking you longer than you want to surrender.
2. It is About Allowing What is There to Be There
Surrender doesn’t mean that you want something to be a certain way, it just means that you are accepting the way things are. You are accepting that this is the way your life is right now. You are agreeing that this is your current reality.
For example, if you just lost your job it doesn’t help to think back and go over everything that you could have done differently. What has happened has happened. There is no turning back the clock. So, surrendering would look like this “I lost my job. Even though this is not what I wanted to happen, it is my current reality. I lost my job and I accept that this is the way it is right now.”
Basically, if life has given you something you don’t want, by surrendering you are allowing it to be there. If you push against it, you are saying it’s not valid. But it is a part of your experience and it may be trying to teach you something or prepare you for what you DO want.

3. The Universe Works in Mysterious Ways
You don’t know all the answers and how the Universe is working on your behalf. So, if it is indeed preparing you for something you want but you don’t allow it to be in your life, the Universe says “Ok, I thought you wanted this thing and I’ve given you this tool to help you to get this certain thing, but you don’t want it. So, I’ll take it away, you must not want it anymore.” It knows much better than you the bigger picture of why something is in your life.
Once you accept your current reality, you can find ways to move forward. If you never accept it, then you’ll never be able to solve it because you’ll be trying to move forward from an unrealistic viewpoint. You can’t move forward from someplace that you are not. You can only move forward from where you are. So, by accepting it, you are giving yourself the best way to move forward.
4. Find the Good in the “Bad” Situation
I can definitely relate to how hard it is to find good in a crappy situation. But there is good in every situation whether you want to admit it or not. By finding the good in a certain unwanted situation, it shifts your vibration from one of anxiety to one of trust. The Universe will then deliver you more things that you can trust. Also, it makes you feel better in the moment and temporarily takes away any anxiety you are feeling.
For example, if you lose your job instead of dwelling on the negatives such as your financial concerns, find a way to see the positives in the situation. Maybe now you can look for the job you really want. Or maybe the company you work for is closing their doors in a month and you’d have to find a new job anyways. Now that you aren’t in such a stressful working environment, it allows your creativity to flow more and you are able to come up with unique solutions that weren’t available to you when you were at your crappy job.
5. Understand That Your Current Unwanted Situation May Be Part of Your Answer
I kind of went over this above, but basically, the bad situation you are in may need to be there for a certain reason. Going back to the job example; Maybe you got laid off from your job that you hate but are now stressed about finances and finding another one. Well, you’ve been wanting to quit for a long time now and haven’t. So, the Universe stepped in and did what you couldn’t do. It knows you’ll be ok and this is what you want. It may be part of the answer to what you want and a blessing in disguise. Trust in what is happening.
Also, take a look at the questions you’ve been asking. Is this part of the answer to those questions? Maybe you were wondering what your life would be like without your current job. Perhaps you’ve been wondering if you could take that leap and get the job of your dreams. Well, the Universe answered; you were asking and it answered. Really take a look at what your thoughts were before this so-called ‘bad’ situation happened to you.
6. Find a Way to Be Happy Where You Are Without the Thing That You Want
I know this can also be hard to do, to be happy without the thing that you want. But if you can find a way to be happy without it, then it or a better thing will come rushing into your life.
Maybe you just went through a bad breakup, be happy for the experience you had with this person. Be happy about the good times you had and everything you learned. Find a way to really appreciate what you had, not to think about your life without them. Make up your mind to only think of the good. The second your thoughts want to go into depression or sadness, flip them back to being grateful for the experience.
7. Understand That You Are Ok No Matter What Happens
Think back to a similar situation or a different difficult situation and know that you made it through. Even though it was really crappy, you made it through and you are ok. Things eventually got better and they will get better. Keep telling yourself you are ok no matter what happens.
Our minds often go to the extreme negatives when a shocking or really heartbreaking thing happens to us. Know that is part of your ego trying to protect you. It isn’t always the truth of your situation.
Understand that your mind can come up with some really negative thoughts as a mechanism to protect you from future hurt but it isn’t always accurate. Thank your ego for looking out for you (as you need it and it can be very helpful) and go into your heart space to understand the truth of the situation.
Bottom Line: How to Surrender When You Feel Stuck in Life
Surrendering isn’t about letting go of everything all at once, it happens in stages. Use the tools above to guide you through the different stages you experience when you are learning how to surrender.
Know that no matter what happens, you’ll be ok and things will get better. Life never stays exactly the same and the quicker you can move through the surrender process, the quicker it will improve.
