You’ve probably heard that decluttering is good for your physical environment and your mind. But did you know that there are also spiritual benefits to decluttering?
Not only does it affect your environment, but it can help you to make a spiritual shift. So, if you feel like something is holding you back from your past or the energy around you doesn’t feel right, it’s time to declutter.
Things in your environment hold energy and when you remove that energy, not only will you feel lighter and freer, but it also opens up a pathway for new energy to enter. This means that things in your life may shift to more of what you want.
Emotional & Spiritual Benefits of Decluttering
#1 – Changing Your Environment Is Good for Your Mind
Any sort of change is good mentally. Changing up your environment signals to your brain that things in your life are shifting and moving, which is a great thing. There is nothing worse than being stuck.
So, by changing and decluttering your environment it lets your mind know that things are moving. In turn, this creates momentum for more things to shift.
Momentum is super powerful. Often the hardest thing is starting something but once you get the momentum going then it is so much easier to move forward.
As Newton’s first law of motion states, “an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.” This is how momentum works for all areas of your life.
#2 – Objects and Clothes from Others Hold Energy
This is often an overlooked concept when it comes to the energy you feel around you.
Everything contains energy. If it had a previous owner, then that energy is on the object.
So, if someone gives you something that once belonged to them, then you are essentially agreeing to take a part of their energy.
This can be good or bad depending on your relationship with the person.
If you feel good when you think of them then the object will make you feel good and carry positive energy. But if you feel bad when you think of them then the object will contain negative energy.
You may receive an object that you don’t know the original owner such as from an antique shop or a second-hand clothing store. This is why it’s super important to notice how the energy feels. If it doesn’t feel good, then it’s time to get rid of it. Even if you aren’t aware of why it doesn’t feel good.
I personally won’t wear second-hand stuff anymore because I don’t want other people’s energy on me.
I understand if you are on a tight budget and it’s your only option. Also, some people have very good energy, and their clothes may feel really good!
It’s just a choice I made because I only want my own energy close to me, but everyone is different.

#3 – Objects Associated with Memories and Feelings Hold Energy
Another thing to consider when decluttering is what is the energy of the object that belongs to you? Does it have strong emotions attached?
For example, if you were in a relationship with someone who hurt you badly and you keep objects that remind you of them, you will constantly be bringing that energy into your experience.
My suggestion is to donate or get rid of anything that makes you feel bad. If you keep it then you are keeping that energy and via the law of attraction, you will attract more of that experience to you.
However, if you have an object that reminds you of someone or a happy time that feels really good, then keep it. It’s raising your vibe!
When going through your decluttering process, it’s important to notice how everything makes you feel. How it feels is the energy it contains.
#4 – Decluttering Helps You to Declutter Your Thoughts & Emotions
If you have a mess around you, then your mind will be a mess. A cluttered environment leads to a cluttered mind.
Think about why you meditate. It’s to clear your thoughts, bring you peace, help you to focus, and supercharge your intuition. You are essentially clearing your mind.
The same thing goes for your environment. If you have clutter everywhere, it’s harder to hear your thoughts, be at peace, and hear your intuition.
I bet you feel really good after you declutter and get rid of things or clean up and organize.
I know I do. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me. That’s because it has.
Decluttering is an important spiritual and law of attraction practice because it clears your mind, helps you to manifest by increasing your vibe, you feel great, and you receive your manifestations quicker.
Your environment is ultra important to what you attract in your life. This goes for the things and the people around you.

If something feels bad, get rid of it. If something feels good, keep it.
It’s super important to protect your energy and keep yourself in a high vibration especially if you are working with the law of attraction.
Objects and clothing can either damper your vibe or raise it and you want to make sure that you have things around you that feel good.
It’s ok to let go of things that feel bad. You have no obligation to keep something just because someone gave it to you, especially if it feels bad.
The spiritual benefits of decluttering help to get rid of old, stagnant energy that is weighing you down and keeping you from moving forward. Try it out and notice how light you feel!
