How To Do An Emotional Cleanse
An emotional cleanse is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I highly recommend doing an emotional cleanse anytime you feel like you have clutter and emotions weighing you down.
It will bring you back to your own center and make you feel much lighter in terms of emotional baggage. I can’t say enough good about doing an emotional cleanse.
What is an Emotional Cleanse?
An emotional cleanse is a way to cleanse yourself of negative emotions that are weighing you down.
It is similar to the way you’d do a cleanse for your body, only it’s for your emotions.
An emotional cleanse brings you back to your true core essence and away from all the outside distractions. It purges your negative emotions so that you can feel better and hear your own inner voice.
Why Is It Important to Do an Emotional Cleanse?
It is important to do an emotional cleanse if you want to feel good and become better at manifesting. An emotional cleanse removes all the junk and negative thought forms that have attached themselves to you.
It will not only help you feel better emotionally but physically as well. Your emotions are linked to your physical body. If you have too many negative thoughts, eventually your body will alert you to this by not functioning optimally and giving you aches and pains to get your attention.
How to Do an Emotional Cleanse
You can do an emotional cleanse for as many days as you want or need. However, I recommend trying it for at least 3 days. 3-7 days to see really good results. This also depends on your current vibration and how much stuff you want to release.
You will feel so good you will probably want to do it longer than the recommended amount of time!
An emotional cleanse isn’t so much about doing something different as it is about not doing those things that make you feel bad. It is about not letting outside influences and your own negative thoughts dictate your personal vibration.
For at least 3 days you will be shifting your mindset anytime you feel bad. Here’s how to do an emotional cleanse:

Emotional Cleanse Tip #1 – Eliminate Social Media
I recommend not going on any social media during your cleanse. Even this one simple act will relieve so much pressure. Social media is such a habit these days that you don’t always notice how it makes you feel.
You get brought into other people’s lives and problems when you allow yourself to be on social media many times a day. It can cause you to feel bad. By eliminating all forms of social media, it will have a very strong beneficial effect on you. It will allow you to connect with your heart and what you truly want, not what everyone else is doing.
I would not check any news or listen to the radio during your cleanse either. If you can avoid any negativity from any outside sources it is the best. If you feel tempted just remember that it is only 3 days, you can go back on if you choose to after your cleanse.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #2 – Detach from Negative Thoughts
It can be difficult to always avoid negativity especially if you are around a lot of people. My suggestion is to detach from any negativity coming from anyone else. Just don’t let your mind go there.
If someone is talking about something bad happening in the world either excuse yourself or don’t allow your mind to feel bad about it. Trust me, it won’t help you to feel bad about it. It won’t help you or them.
Stop your thoughts the second they want to switch into negativity. You can do this by changing the subject in your head or out loud if you are talking to someone else.
If you are the one creating your negative thoughts, just recognize them and switch your focus immediately to something that makes you feel good. You have no responsibility to feel bad or think bad thoughts. It won’t solve your problems to think about them.
If this is your norm that is ok. That just means this emotional cleanse will help you big time and train your brain to focus on what you want which will make you feel better and help you with your manifestations.
If a negative emotion comes up and has a lot of momentum it will be hard to stop. In this case, allow it to pass. Don’t get upset with yourself for having it. Just allow it and move on. You will catch the next one sooner before it has a ton of momentum and is easier to stop.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #3 – Only Allow High Vibration Emotions
This is similar to #2 but try to only allow high emotional vibrations. These include emotions equal to or above:
- Peace
- Joy
- Love
- Happiness
- Serenity
- Fun
- Gratitude
- Excitement
By only allowing yourself to have these emotions during your emotional cleanse, it will be easier to stay in a high vibration.
For the first few days, I repeated the high vibration words in my head. I also carried around a piece of paper with these words on it. It made it easier to stick to only allowing these thoughts into my mind.
If someone wanted to talk about something negative it didn’t bother me because I only allowed the high vibration thoughts to be allowed into my mind. I literally just said no to the lower vibration thoughts and they never lasted more than a couple of seconds.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #4 – Meditate
Try to meditate more during your emotional cleanse. It works wonders to help you to stay in a high vibration. If you are having a difficult time sticking to the cleanse just simply do a meditation and it will clear the resistance.
Guided meditations are good for this too. I know it can be difficult to sit in pure non-thought sometimes. There are many free guided meditations on YouTube.

Emotional Cleanse Tip #5 – Gratitude
Practicing gratitude will help to raise your vibration and clear up any emotional baggage you are carrying. Gratitude is a very high frequency and it is great to practice at least once a day.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #6 – Smile
This is the simplest way to keep you in a high vibration. The reason why smiling is so effective is that it literally tricks your brain to be happier even if you feel like crap! Seriously smile even when you are feeling very down. It will shift your vibration.

Emotional Cleanse Tip #7 – No Upsetting TV
TV affects your vibration more than you realize. When you watch something stressful you bring that vibration into your own world. So, if you are going to watch tv, keep it to something that is light and non-stressful.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #8 – Have Fun & Laugh
Doing something fun and light will raise your vibration and distract you from any negative emotions weighing you down.
Find something fun to do or something to laugh at. If you have something that you know makes you laugh, tune into it. Really try and force yourself to laugh even if you aren’t in the mood. It will give you some really good momentum for having a great day. Besides, laughing is awesome! We all need to do more of it in life.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #9 – Eat Healthy Foods
Even though this is an emotional cleanse, it affects your physical body as well as they are interconnected. What happens in one happens in the other.
Try to eat healthy, light foods during this time. You will also be drawn to healthier foods once you cleanse your emotions. It will become natural and very easy to eat healthy when your mind is healthy.
Emotional Cleanse Tip #10 – Move Your Body
Try to move your body for at least 15 minutes a day. Your body wants to move! Any little thing will help to ground you and make it easier to stick with your emotional cleanse.
My Emotional Cleanse Results
I felt so good after doing my emotional cleanse. I think the best thing for me was eliminating social media. It felt like I all of a sudden wasn’t taking on anyone else’s energy and therefore problems. I felt very much at peace.
I did my emotional cleanse for about 5 days and then decided to continue as best I could. So, I’d log into Facebook for business purposes only and didn’t read anything else. I felt so good I didn’t want to go back the other way.
I almost closed my Facebook account because I was felt so amazing and didn’t want to be sucked back into anything that would take me out of my good feeling momentum. Instead, I just deleted some apps on my phone so that I wasn’t tempted to log in.
I wasn’t even trying to do the emotional cleanse for more than 3 days but the momentum carried over into the following days. I was able to focus so much more on my work because I didn’t have all this other clutter in my brain.
During this time, I also felt extremely grateful. It wasn’t something I was forcing. It’s like this wave of serenity flooded over me and I felt so happy for everything in my life. I felt so peaceful. Sometimes I can have a lot of higher nervous energy but this really grounded me.
I felt like I was also able to help more people during my emotional cleanse. The reason for this is because all my problems seemed to disappear so I was able to focus more on other people which is difficult to do if you aren’t in a good place yourself.
I literally felt like a new person during my emotional cleanse. It felt like the old me flew out of my body and was replaced with this super powerful being who had total control over my emotions and life. I loved every minute of it! It was so amazing. I felt incredible!
Bottom Line – How To Do An Emotional Cleanse
I recommend doing an emotional cleanse whenever you feel like you need it or at least 4 times a year (once a season). Emotional health is just as important as physical health. You will feel amazing after and you will have raised your vibration to a new level to begin attracting more amazing things into your life.
